Floodplain surveys located within a designated floodplain can be challenging especially when trying to develop new or existing sites that are not limited only to ground features on the property, but the structures as well. If you have a house or property that is shown on a flood map as being in the floodplain, but you don’t think it is, we can perform a survey to ascertain its location and determine the limits of the floodplain. Even if the property is located within the flood plain, you still have options. A floodplain survey/study is not only helpful for determining the development potential of a parcel, but is often required by insurance companies in order to provide flood insurance on the property. In some instances a floodplain survey may determine that the parcel or portions of the parcel or even the structures are not located within the floodplain or are higher than the designated base flood elevation, thus alleviating the need for flood insurance.
